Special Auction Services and its valuers are renowned for their professionalism, knowledge and confidentiality. We conduct valuations for many clients, from private individuals, to solicitors, museums, businesses and beyond. Our experienced team of valuers offer you several different types of valuation services

Auction Valuation

We offer you free auction estimate valuations of your Jewellery, Antiques and Collectables. Depending on your collection and location, we can make a visit to your home, but we also encourage you to come and see us at our salerooms in Newbury. Hopefully we can help find a few hidden treasures for you! Our regular specialist auctions also mean you will be able to sell the items promptly and also receive the proceeds from sales three weeks post auction.

We provide FREE auction valuations and estimates and if you are thinking of selling items or your collection, we offer a single fixed fee commission with no hidden costs. For example there is no lotting fee and no extra charges for photographs, insurance, storage. We also have a transportation service available to you.

Probate & Estate Valuations

Our experienced and qualified valuers can assist you whether you are a private individual or a firm of solicitors when carrying out valuation for probate or inheritance tax purposes. Due to our size and flexibility you will find our rates extremely competitive and tailored to each assignment.

We also understand that this is a sensitive time and also the importance of dealing with the valuation in a fast, considered and professional manner. We recognise that everyone is different and each estate and property we value is unique. Therefore, we compile an inventory of all the items present and produce a bound copy for the estate. This inventory is also kept indefinitely with Special Auction Services. All our valuations are carried out in accordance with the requirements of HMRC.

We are based in Newbury, Berkshire, however, our team travel all across the UK and Europe to ensure we can deliver valuations as quickly as possible for you.

Also as part of our services we can assist in the following services for Executors:

  • The sale of specific items or extensive Estates
  • The immediate storage of vulnerable valuable pieces
  • The clearance of properties and residual items through third-parties

Insurance Valuations

Whether you are a private individual or a business our experienced and qualified valuation team will produce a valid insurance certificate should you ever need to use it. Over the years we have produced many insurance valuations. These have been from a single unique object, such as a diamond ring or rare collectable, right through to the complete contents of a Georgian manor house.

For each valuation certificate we provide a description of the item or collections and present this in a bound copy for you to keep for your records. We also hold a copy in our records indefinitely.

We are based in Newbury, Berkshire, however, our team travel all across the UK and Europe to ensure we can deliver valuations as quickly as possible for you. Depending on your location and the size of your collection, we will discuss costs and expenses upfront to ensure great value for money.

We offer exclusive days where our experienced valuers come and value items of Antiques, Jewellery & Collectables. You can offer entrance to members of the public or a select group and each item would attract a donation or fixed fee to raise money and assist your charity and your organisation such as the Women’s Institute, Hospitals, and others. We can also help you to raise the profile of the event to get as many people to come along as possible by advertising on our website and via our social media platforms.

These Fun filled evenings are typically hosted as part of an event, celebration or team building evening where each team is tasked with using their antique skills to try and value a group of items. We would prepare an interesting auction of various Antiques & Collectables to get teams guessing and valuing, we then use a professional auctioneer to get the crowd excited and bidding!

Charity Auctions: Use a professional auctioneer to raise as much for your worthwhile cause. We love selling things, and we also enjoy helping charities get as much money for selling items as possible
