A mid 19th century Thüringen George Washington Lafayette Fox nodder, papier-mâché with large head, nose and smile, red and blue Grimaldi style costume, pointing one hand and the other in pocket, standing on painted circular base —10 ¼in. (26cm.) high (head neatly repainted) - George Washington Lafayette Fox (July 3, 1825 – October 24, 1877) was an American actor and dancer who became known for his pantomime Clown roles, and who based the characterizations for these roles on his inspiration Joseph Grimaldi.
