An 1820s Seiffen/Olberhau region turned wooden set of Hussar soldiers with provenance, twelve men with peg noses and painted moustaches, yellow painted jackets with red frogging, black shako hats with plumes and grey trousers, separate legs, circular bases with a hole probably originally a scissor toy, in original split wood box with ink inscription ‘Soldiers - Robert Lowe - Bought at Stourport, August 29th 1820’ —4 ¾in. (12cm.) high (fifteen arms and six bases expertly replaced) with a calling card for Mrs Chaworth Musters, Annesley Park, Notts with ink note saying ‘Soldiers bought at Stourport Aug. St. 29th 1820 for Robert Lowe afterwards Lord Sherbrooke, lent by (card owner)’, the original owner was Robert Lowe, 1st Viscount Sherbrooke, GCB, PC (4 December 1811 – 27 July 1892),[ British statesman, was a pivotal conservative spokesman who helped shape British politics in the latter half of the 19th century. He held office under William Ewart Gladstone as Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1868 and 1873 and as Home Secretary between 1873 and 1874 — see Early Toys 2, Leipold/Bickert/Kreher, 2024 - page 290, fig 1 for these actual models, although they author has misread the inscription to be Frankfurt
