A mid 19th century Sonneberg composition eight piece band, these highly characterful figures in 18th and 19th century style dress, very detailed and expressive faces with flocked hair and two with set curled wigs, comprising vigorous conductor, double bass, trombone, violin, flute, French horn, bassoon and flute, turned wooden circular bases, five pencil inscribed in German on the underside Querflöte (flute), Posaune (trombone), Flöte, Geige (violin) and Dirigent (conductor) —6in. (15.5cm.) height of man with hat — see Early Toys 2, Leipold/Bickert/Kreher, 2024 - page 172, figs 2 and 3 for these actual models - a similar band was shown at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London
