A rare early apricot mohair Steiff bear with provenance, probably circa 1905, with black boot button eyes, unclipped cone muzzle, very unusual original seam from ear to ear, black stitched nose, mouth and four claws, disc joints, swivel head, elongated jointed limbs, felt pads with black felt lining to pads, hump and blank button --16in. (40.5cm.) high; --11 1/4in. (28.5cm.) seated (slight general wear and thinning, left wrist split and neatly repaired, a little faded, holes to heal of foot pads) and a photograph of the original owners,' Aldrick Children' written to reverse and an early 20th century clown costume, with souvenir of the circus badge - the current owner purchased this bear from a Pittsburgh estate of the Aldrick family - this appears to be a transitional early bear following on from the 28PB and closely related to the 28 PAB - this bear when purchased was in poorly restored condition and had been inappropriately stuffed, and was replaced with correct stuffing and in the process restitched the pads
