A late 19th century Thüringen anthropomorphic Aesthetic gentleman tabby cat nodder, papier-mâché with green painted eyes, pink nose, white top hat, grey jacket with blue collar, red shirt with black spots, a painted sunflower on his jacket, one hand in pocket, the other on hip, hole to hold item, now with bunch of artificial flowers, yellow trousers and painted wooden base with hole in middle and pencil numbers to underside —6 ¼in. (16cm.) high - the sunflower became associated with the Aesthetic movement in the late 19th century and was worn by the likes of James Whistler, Algernon Swinburne and Oscar Wilde
